Actualy, the little signal generator whose schematic appears in the back of
the K2 manual is remarkably useful. Decent but older 'scopes can be had for
$100 at most any hamfest. Mine is a dual-trace 20MHz unit that does a
lovely job for the things I need. I paid $75.00 for it. I have a meter I
bought for $39 new that does a truly remarkable job reading L and C
components. I have an ancient but trusty Fluke counter - only goes to about
200MHz but is perfectly fine for HF stuff I play with. Until Wayne designed
the K3 (and I have more than a few opinions on what it should be like),
something like a decent digital power meter, 6 and/or 2 meter transverters,
maybe even a speaker/power supply sound great. I do recall some sort of
external control box being discussed. Perhaps it is that sort of thing
we'll be hearing about next month. But then, perhaps we'll all be soundly
surprised.

I would like to see some Elecraft test equipment Please. Since building the
K2 and K1 I am much more into Home Brew than ever before. The problem is,
and I guess what puts a lot of other people off building is the cost of test
equipment even on the surplus market. You can only do so much with an
RFprobe and multimeter. New horizons would open for me with the ETE1.
I would like to see the ETE1 (Elecraft Test Equipment 1) A stable clean
ouput signal generator with combined digital frequency meter, readout to
10Hz would suffice for me.
Frequency ranges to be decided.
The provision of test equipment at a reasonable price would aid this Home
Brewer a lot.
Bring it on please Wayne !
By the way does the latest kit to be released have toroids??? Surely you can
give us all the answer to this question, you know they are loved by the
majority on this list 8-)
