[Elecraft] Right/Left Handed

Well, being a Coastal Station Telegrapher requires writing with your left
hand while sending with your right. You work the ship and when the message
is sent, you must be ready to move on to the next vessel, no do
"paperwork." I never made it, but what I did achieve was using my left
hand to put the message blank in the mill and type the necessary service
cross onto it. There were several of us at KPH did it that way. Of course
left handed operators had the choice of learning to send with their right
hand & writing with their left hand, something many if not most did, or the
other way around. If you're a lefty, you can wire your paddles backwards
that is easy. The other easy "fix" that was often done was to use a right
handed bug on your left side pointed away from you. The lefty then reached
"over" the top of the bug, but of course this meant elevating your arm all
the time you sent. It was commonly done however. Even though Vibroplex
made a left handed bug, I never saw one in 21 years on the main floor.

Great discussion!
