Looks like James has a problem with his mail client as well as his K2.
Here is what the message from [email protected] is when decoded (note, I didn't
write this, I just decoded it).
James, if you read this, find out how to send plain text in AOL; it can be done.
Otherwise, your posts look like jaborwacky.

Hi there,
I have had an ongoing problem with my K2. So far, it has never worked right.
My problem involves my side tone, or lack there of. I'll give you a brief
history.

My name is James Kern, KB2FCV and I purchased and built K2 number 2735. I have
been working with Andy Stillinger WA2DKJ who has built several and is good at
diagnosing the K2. Since I have completed it, the Sidetone never worked. Through
a series of tests, voltage checks, etc we eliminated the sidetone circuit as
being the problem and narrowed it to U6 on the Control Board. Yes, we checked
and rechecked for cold solder joints, etc. I can't remember what pin it was, but
we determined was the problem on U6. We had another U6 sent out by Elecraft and
the same problem occurred. Just for kicks, we tried Andy's U6 and my sidetone
worked great! But... my LED meter would not work at all in any mode/test. I was
able to work the November Sweepstakes of 2002. He needed his chip back, and my
K2 has since sat. The only thing I did was to place my U6 back which returned it
to the original problem. I'm not sure where to turn. Ever hear of this?? Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 72's de James, KB2FCV
