[Elecraft] Remoting the KPA100???

I may have missed this somewhere but couldn't I just set the KPA100 next to
my K2 in an EC2 enclosure and extend all the connections via short sheilded
cables and appropriate connectors? I see a method of using a KIO2 in the K2.
Is this really needed and why? I am referring to the 9 cond comm. cable. It
seems to me a short cable to the rear of the K2 and a DB9 on the amp and the
K2 would do the trick. As long as the KPA is kept right next to the K2. I am
thinking of this to keep the heat out of the K2 and to make it very easy to
unplug and take it camping as a QRP rig.
