Hi Wayne,
Picking frequencies has been a really hot topic in the past. If you
look at the "on the air schedules" page on the hfpack website, it lists
frequences for most of the bands, including 20 and 40. One of the
interesting debates concerns where do the cw people go? What has been
done so far is to use the SSB freq as the starting point for cw. I've
had QSOs with other bicycles where I was running SSB and the other
station was running CW. We've taken some grief about running CW in the
SSB band segements though. Also, those with K1's have pointed out they
are unable to tune into the SSB portion. I personally think that a
frequency in the CW portion of the band makes more sense. Just to screw
things up more on 40m, the different Regions have different allocations.
(Hopefully that is being fixed!)
I think it will take some time and a lot of debate (one that I DON'T
want to be involve in! :-), but we need to pick a place and a time where
everyone can meet. I think we can follow what the HFPACK guys have
learned the hard way and pick times and frequencies and stick to the
schedule. If people show up, are others to talk to, and they have fun,
the word gets out pretty quickly. Others start to show up and it
becomes established practice.
