If the vertical is attached directly (no feed line) to the output of the =
K2
(assuming you are using a KAT2 ATU), then the counterpoise is attached =
to
the case of the rig itself.
If the antenna is separated from the rig with a matching network at its =
base
and fed by a feedline with a low SWR on it, then the counterpoise wire
should attach to the ground side of the matching network at the antenna. =
In any case, the counterpoise should be 1/4 wavelength long for the band =
you
are operating on.
In each case, the counterpoise will have a high impedance (and high RF
voltage) at the far end (so be sure it's insulated there) and a low
impedance (low RF voltage) at the rig end. That's the objective: provide =
a
low-impedance RF "ground" for the antenna.=20

small vertical whips for quick portable use. Should my counterpoise be
connected to ground or the vertical itself? Thereis a first time for
