[Elecraft] K2: another one is alive, :)

Hello,

K2 serial 3330 is working. Two weeks from California to Spain and almost 12 days more to complete the kit, without any options -yet.

Even it is not aligned well, a quick turns over the differents slugs to gain some receiving in all bands, I am quite satisfied! The receiver seems to be better than my -still- FT-817. I hope to do the alignment process next days a bit more relaxed.

About the kit building, I did two mistakes: in the alignment part I and after power up, display came with INFO 201, and no more... pin 1 at U1 in RF board was unsoldered! Corrected this, I had to do a hard reset (4-5-6 keys) because display was still showing garbage. And the second one, not corrected yet, it is the display itself: it is not correctly aligned with its window in the front panel. 

In alignment and test part II, I could not get the VCO voltage: only 4.8 volts. As per it was suggested in this mail list, I rewind T5 with 18 turns. No joy too: now voltage was fixed at 8.0 volts and no action from L6. I left one turn (17 now), and it was right!

All in all, I am very satisfied with this kit. I enjoyed in the building process and it is sure I will go for the SSB and AF filter options very soon.

Congratulations to Wayne and Eric for this superb design and quality kit. To the rest of the people at Elecraft, my compliments for the nice work.
