[Elecraft] K1 Front Panel missing IC Sockets ???

I noticed that the Front Panel U2, U3, U5 are missing
IC sockets.  Can we add IC sockets for these?  I hate
to solder direct to IC!!!  I know they didn't include
them in the kit.  

Why isn't there IC sockets?  Clearence?

Any reason why you can't solder the IC sockets first
before anything else is added to the board.  Easier to
get them level that way.

Thanks in advance, I'm sure I am not the only one who
noticed or thought about this???
