Well, I must say I sure didn't expect a "return to yesterday"
response! All the replys were a lot of fun and quite interesting to
say the least. Look guys, If I wanted a boat anghor, glow bug,
vintage power waster, I'd 'ove gone to the local ham fest and
bought the slug. Tubes are for power and not a whole lot else. The
K2 suits me just fine and the building experiance was superbe! AM
is an interesting curiosity these days, but still only interesting
none the less. A good friend gave me a bit of a razzing the other
day 'cause his ity bitty YAESU (do it all rig) was surly a much
better box than the K2 for its abilities. AM and VHF modes were
mensioned, and so my origional question, "Any AM detect'en going on
out there"? Boy I love this web site! Best regards, Bob K7HBG

Well, the right thing for SWBC AM is a synchronous detector. There
are a couple of circuits around, I think a couple use a Sony IC.
The sync detector in my little Sony RX usually makes a good
inprovement in the signal. I'm not at all sure how that'd work
for ham AM, though.
