[Elecraft] K2: Hearing between dots

I have experimented a bit with my K2, and the maximum speed when I can
hear anything between dots is 12-13 wpm. Is this normal? I was hoping
for something faster. This is even when I have paralleled R17 on the
control board (3.3M) with a 1M resistor to improve QSK as per

Is my K2 typical here?
