[Elecraft] K2 with DSP module

Hi Gang

I was just wondering - would it be possible to make a DSP board that woul=
d plug in place of the SSB board. The DSP could take care of the SSB sign=
al generation on transmit and filtering on receive as well as all of the =
things DSP can do with a CW signal such as adjustable bandwidth, heterody=
ne elimination and noise reduction. I know there would be the problems of=
digital noise from the processor to solve but with proper shielding they=
could be overcome. Maybe Elecraft has already got something like this in=
the works. They seem to surprise us every few months with something new =
to add to the basic radio (and extract cash from us all ;-) or maybe this=
would be the K3. Frankly I don't know how much more you can stuff into t=
he box as it is now. So if the K3 is a new radio with a little larger box=
then some of the other minor problems could be addressed at the same tim=
e such as frequency drift and maybe a little more information on the disp=
lay. Again I don't have any inside information just wondering.
