I just did Ron's ST L test with my K2 (#2622).  By no means is the
sidetone so loud at ST L = 255 that it is unbearable, either on the
speaker or on my headset.  It's not even what I would call very loud.

I always use headphones when operating, and my comfortable ST L level
when operating CW is 40.

As I mentioned before, volume is ample with the AF gain pot at 9 o'clock
on strong signals (either speaker or headset), but *not* adequate on very
weak signals with the pot fully CW.

As I once said, "Obviously all K2's are not created equal".  Either that,
or Ron's ears are the most unusual on the planet.

More audio output, PLEASE!
