To many variables are being tossed into the soup, WWV, 3 feet=
 above,
reflections from walls, etc. Having a bit of audio experence,
firstly as to "loudness", I have found that the how quality,=
 timbre,
and audio range varies with personnel preferances and very=
 important
how a person percieves it should be. Some folks like there rig=
 to
sound very comm like, narrow range, distorted, even CB like.(no
kidding). If it doesn't sound "right" there must be "something"=

wrong. Not so.

On my K2/100, #2698, I put my sound level meter directly into and=
 as
close to the cone as possible to minimize sound reflections. 40=

meters, no ant, lower sideband, AF and RF at max, preamp on. =
 --108
db.
That's loud.

I don't care for the sound from the built in sqeaker, it shoots=
 all
of the audio straight up, but for CW its just fine. It's the=
 typical
Xceiver sound of today. I have to go back to one of my higher
quality boat ankger before I can sit back and say "that sounds=
 good".
I've not been able to drive any of the larger ext speaker over=
 here.

Best so far and sounds quite good to me is an Audax 3" APO080M4
mounted in a small 4 square box semi-open back. Has range of
80-16000 hz.

As far as earphones go I we
