Sorry. I wasn't clear in my post. When I said that I was running the AF
gain at about 9 o'clock, that is when AGC is ON and the RF Gain is at
Max. That's what most ops seem to do with the K2 from what I see in the
posts.

I often turn the AGC Off and use the RF gain to control the level so I
don't have to listen to the AGC pull the background noise up whenever
I'm not listening to a signal. In that case I usually have the AF gain
sitting at about 12 o'clock. That's where I'm starting to hear hiss from
the audio stages in the phones. Any higher and the QSK starts creating
clicks and burps as well. 

Before I installed the audio gain control mod, my audio gain was usually
down right near zero (minimum stop) when using AGC.

My RF gain is full, AF at 0900 or so for good speaker volume.  S/N #380.
