Believe.  I did it and the change was very, very significant.  A big
improvement.  Someone once told me that when you are trying to get 60 db plus of
attenuation you should think of 5 MHz like 500!

I cleaned the cans with scotchbrite before I soldered them with a 700f tip.  It
went very fast and I'm sure I didn't damage them.  But I can understand how
someone with minimal soldering experience and/or a poor iron could overheat
them.
