Yes, I'm looking forward to experimenting with my K2 this way. An
IF-DSP
would be very interesting. Does anyone have a more specific
recommendation
on where to tap the IF and a buffer circuit that won't adversely affect
K2's
performance?
A simpler mod I have in mind is to add a good AM detector. I often
enjoy
SWLing on my Sony 2010 and Drake R4C. Yes, you can get copyable speech
on SSB but it's not pleasant. I'd like to see how much better a K2
with true AM
will sound. I figure on introducing the AM detector's audio through
the KAF2 in
place of one of its bandwidth settings. I'll let you know how it turns
out.
As for general coverage, don't forget: the K2's excellence and relative
simplicity
is based on its passive tuned front end and single-conversion design.
That's
not compatible with general coverage.
