That should read:

"Turn the K2 ON and tap DISPLAY.  If time (HH-MM-SS) is diplayed, press
and hold BAND+ and BAND- simultaneously to display the date (MM-DD-YY). 
Then follow the procedure on page 10 of the KAF2 manual to set the date
and time."

If the K2 is aready powered up, then power it down and wait at least ten
seconds before powering it up, or you won't be able to set the date/time.
