1. What solder to use? I have looked for the RS 64-013 that is

Any 60/40 solder is fine as long as it's intended for electronics. I use
Kesler. Easily available nearly anywhere.

That is just fine. More soldering iron than you need.

Yes! Take your time, double even triple check components that are placed in
critical ways. Transistors, resistor packs, electrolytic caps etc. More
importantly when it's statrts to feel more like a job, Stop and come back to
it again the next day. Follow the manual verbatim (do not skip any steps)
Never rush and you'll have one nice transceiver you can be proud of.
Use the list and elecraft support anytime you have a question or concern.
