You idea would probably work but since you have the space, you might
consider the G5RV arrangement.  The clasic version is 102 feet long with
about 36 feet of 450-ohm ladder line to which 50 ohm coax of just about
any length is connected.  Other versions use a 1:1 or 4:1 balun at the
transition from the ladder line to coax.  With a tuner they cover all
bands 80-10.  I used one this past weekend in casual operation on 15 & 10
during the CQ WW DX constest.  Racked up 27 new countries and a total of
57 in about 10 hours of off and on operating.  I was able to get quite a
few stations on the first call with most taking 3 or less tries.  The
only misses were the 5U7 and JW4 which had huge pile-ups late in the
contest when I found them.
