I wouldn't modify the K2 since the K2 has got bandfilters optimized for the 
ham bands. There wouldn't be very many broadcast stations you could receive, 
except for maybe the 40m band. For receiving these few stations, I would use 
Ron's method of receiving them with zero-beating the receiver.
