Greetings:
Here's what I did; let me know if its wrong. Measuring the voltage change
across R7 with my DMM, a Radio Shack autoranging 174B, didn't work either.
It seems to have a longer delay and has problems sampling the rising voltage
or current, giving funky values. So I bought a 1 ohm 10W resistor and a
20,000 ohm per volt analog meter on-sale at the local Radio Shack (current
range was only 450 mA). Stuck the resistor in one leg of power cord, put the
analog and digital meters across it. Set the K2 to 11 watts, CW Test. The
DMM measured 0.529 V, the analog 0.5. Hit tune and set R6 to give 0.9 V on
the analog; the DMM again giving funky values on the rise.
Close enough? What are the signs that it isn't? It passed all the transmit
tests and the MFJ 949E says it is putting out close to 100W max on all the
bands.
Thanks and 73.
John, K7JG.
