[Elecraft] KPA100 assembly only one pwr supply?

Greetings:
     I'm to the point of assembling the big 12V power cables for the KPA100 and 
reading ahead I see I need two power supplies shortly. Being cheap and 
anticipating the KPA100, I only have one 12V supply - a 20-25 Amp linear that 
I've been using for the K2. Any suggestions about how to go about checking out 
the KPA100 supply? I've been considering buying a lead-acid car-type battery 
for a backup power source.
