After lots of e-mail from both the list and Gary, I'm please to state that 
K1 s/n 1351 is now working and on the air.. Now to re-learn CW :)

It turned out that I had made a few solder joints that where bad. Never 
did find a "bad" looking one, but when I built the RF board I used a 
25watt iron.. When I built the rest of the rig I was using a 60watt iron.

I have the NB and tuner working also.. My Dad is sitting on it now 
listening to some guy of of OH and the other end is out of WA.. He says 
it's 5/9 and this from a 75 foot long wire ant. only about 6 feet off the 
ground, running North to South.
