100W PEP = 100W CW. No difference :*) The peak envelope power (PEP) of a
continuous 100W CW wave form is equal to its 100W average value. Not so for
SSB, which has a much lower average value.
Some older amplifiers had limitations based upon their power supply
performance under load. They specified a higher power for SSB since their
power supplies could supply a higher voltage under the lighter loading of
SSB versus CW. Since SSB power is usually described by its peak level, PEP
was used.
