Hi Steve.

It is my understanding that OS X is pretty much vanilla BSD so, I'm
wondering if your code will run under other unices?

Since I don't have any Mac equipment, I'm not familiar with what X windows
flavor that Apple is using or which window manager they use.

Have you investigated use of your code on other platforms?
