[Elecraft] KAT100 question

I have an inverted L for 80 and 160 meters. It runs vertically a few feet from
my tower for about 40 feet, and then about another 120 feet horizontally. The
KAT100 matches it on both bands, but of course the SWR on the coax between the
KAT100 and the antenna is quite high.

This stresses my lightning protection device. What I would like to do is
replace it with two parallel wires, one about 66' long and one about 128' long.
Then it should show a low impedance on each band. I estimate that this will
reduce the SWR on the coax to less than 3:1, which will be more comfortable.

Now, here's my question: on 80 meters, for example, the KAT100 could
theoretically select a network that would match a 1/2w antenna or a 1/4w
antenna. Either way, the SWR seen by the K2 would be low -- but in the former
case, the SWR on the coax from the KAT100 to the antenna would be very high, and
in the latter, low. Obviously the former condition would be more efficient and
healthier for my lightning protector. Which would it choose? A similar
situation would exist on 160 meters.
