I have never space qualified a product, but I have put automotive
electronics threw vibration testing. My first year after collage was spent
finding a way to keep an electrolytic capacitor in place on a product many
of you have in your cars today. Actually it only took a month to solve the
problem. The rest of the year was spent convincing manufacturing to put a
2-cent drop of hot melt glue on the base of the cap.

My opinion is that a K2 will not pass an automotive vibration test. If
anyone wants to volunteer their K2 I will see if the head of our vibration
lab can give it a ride on the shaker table.

Keep in mind that the test is designed to compress ten years of life into
six hours. Using a K2 mobile for a short time is probably not a problem.
Besides if a toroid pops off you can fix it yourself. However, NASA may not
see it that way.
