[Elecraft] KAT100 and KPA100 control interface

Hi All,

Need some help figuring out how to simultaneously control the KPA100 and KAT100 
which are occupying an EC-2 enclosure together.

I have the KIO2 interface in my K2, and it was doing a nice job controlling the 
KPA100 remotely.  I'm not familiar with serial control design, so I not too 
sure about what I can get away with.  I'm a little reluctant to smoke test the 
various solutions until I have some input from the group. There are two options 
I'm seeking input on:

1)  Build a second interface cable from the K2 then split to the KPA100 and the 
KTA100 with conductors wired in parallel for each DB-9 connector.  Will this 
work?

2)  Use my existing (and proven) aux bus control cable to the KPA100, and 
connect the KPA100 P1 to the KAT100 P4 with the supplied ribbon cable from the 
KPA100 kit.  If this would work it would really be a slick setup; with all but 
the high power RF connected internal to the EC-2 chassis.

There are a number of features on the KPA100 and KAT100 that appear to support 
the configuration I'm after, so I'm thinking this has already been thought out.

Any help with this serial control bus issue would be greatly appreciated.
