[Elecraft] Audio Mod Some tips

Today I installed the audio mod to eliminate the scratchy audio, the mod
works great and did not realize till I had a couple of QSOs how much more I
liked the control of the audio with the mod.

Thought I might pass on a couple of simple tips I found in doing the mod.

1. After cutting the traces and verifying with a DVM, etc. that they really
are cut, hold the board up to a high intensity light so the light shines
through and you can easily see how the cut actually looks. This is
important as while you have done the cut and verified it, there maybe a
little sliver that could possibly short out the cut.

2. Use a different color wire for the jumpers for each separate mod. I used
green for the KIO2 mod, and have labeled my book with a note that the KIO2
mod is green wire, for the audio mod I used blue wire and again made a note
in my mod sheet and schematic that the wire is blue.

3. Where you have to solder on to a pin, lightly tin the pin first, then
solder the jumper.

4. Take your time, look over your work, and use something to brush off the
board after cutting the trace. I use a tooth brush with very stiff
bristles. I bought a couple of tooth brushes just for this, do not use old,
used tooth brushes as they loose there stiffness.
