My curiosity has been peaked. Does anybody have a picture of there K2 with
the FT-100 knob installed on the web? I'd like to see one before I order
one.

(Gosh, I'm considering mods for my K2 and I haven't built it yet. I haven't
even ordered it yet. Just been drooling a lot. (I'm hoping it is my
Christmas present to myself.))

Interesting... I called Yaesu Parts and requested the FT-100 knob. The
first reply from the parts person "is this for your K2 radio?". He then
went on to describe orders at 15 - 30 a day for quite some time after the
K2 came out! He then went on to indicate they still get a number of calls

per week!! WOW!

I feel like such a traitor -- modifying my beautiful, American made K2,
with this "foreign" part. It's sort of like conceding that somewhere,
someone else has done it better. Yet, I have to agree with the many that
have trodden this road before me, the factory original K2 knob begs to be
replaced (or "toned down" -- sharp edges rounded, finger friendly rubber,
etc.). If they are getting the orders they say.....

Might I suggest -- like it probably hasn't been said before...;-) --
that Elecraft reconsider their main tuning knob design? (The gentleman I
talked with indicated a bulk order would reduce the cost.) Such a small
thing, and yet probably the single most important component of the user
interface. It's the difference between wooden stool and a comfortably
padded reclining chair. Both get the job done. One is more inviting for
the long haul.

And with such a nice radio, who wouldn't consider anything but the long
haul?
