Quality control is a problem for a lot of companies. I was lucky with the=
power supplies but I had to send back a MFJ antenna analyzer that was ba=
d out of the box. Autek isn't any better I have two of their analyzers, o=
ne had several unsoldered connections out of the box and it still has a f=
laky segment on the display. =20

That is one of the refreshing things about Elecraft, I have built 7 K2's =
4 KPA100's 3 K1's 2 KAT100's and all of the options many times and they a=
ll worked the first time. I had 2 sip resistor packs that were the wrong =
value in one K2 kit is the only error in packaging I have found and that =
was corrected in a couple of days. The people at Elecraft have all been a=
pleasure to deal with. They will do whatever it takes to make sure you a=
re happy with their products.

            Don,

I think you are right you may have been lucky, or I was unluc=
ky, but in either case I have come to expect that out of the box products=
need to work the first time. I listened to testimonials on this list and=
others about the 4125 and I was attracted to it. It satisfied all of my =
requirements. I gave MFJ another chance and they let me down. I could hav=
e tried a replacement power supply, but my time on this planet is limited=
, and with more than one fish in this sea I decided to allow some other c=
ompany impress me with their quality Beyond that if the quality of the M=
FJ product was called into question out of the box, then what must the fu=
ture bring? I don=E2=80=99t want miss the warning sign now and pay for it=
later. In any case I am happy with what I now have and will express that=
 to whoever listens. =20
Thanks for the information, and the noise generator kit. I lo=
ve that little box!! You do make a good kit.
