[Elecraft] power supply

Hi

The 4125 you had may have had a problem. I have a 4225 on my bench that I=
 use to check out and align radios. This power supply has the same circui=
t board as the 4125 it just has meters and a voltage adjust on the front =
panel. I have run a K2/100 key down into a dummy load at 100 watts for ab=
out 10 minutes and the power supply worked fine. The current draw during =
this test was about 18 amps. There have been some posts about defective u=
nits so maybe they have a quality control problem but the 3 MFJ supplies =
I have work fine. Maybe I'm just lucky. These supplies are made in Taiwan=
 and are very similar to computer supplies with additional RF filtering.

I purchased a 4125 from MFJ and was happy with it only for a
short time. There seemed to be no noise, but then again you have to
actually operate to have that concern. I have a K2 with a KPA100 that I
have built and Gary has checked. Calling CQ or throwing the call sign
for someone to notice was no problem, but when I could talk for over 10
seconds, the 4125 would fold back and shut off. If there had been power
I would have violated the FCC profanity laws. It was very frustrating. I
return the power supply the next day and have been refunded my money.
The Astron SS30M is an excellent power supply. It is quiet and loafs
along delivering everything I need for power.
