Neill has it completely right. Down East Microwave kits are NOT that
difficult to build, especially for those having built a K2, and the
performance level with a K2 is superb. At the Dayton Elecraft booth, I passed
a 6m QSL to Eric from my K2-DEM 6m transverter kit combo.
Sneezing while building the transverter caused the temporary loss of one
surface mount component, but later it was found on the basement concrete
floor! Actually, pre-tinning the pads and holding the component down
initially make surface mount construction quite simple (that, plus the
illuminated magnifier everyone bought for their K2 assembly).
No, it's not an Elecraft manual but there's enough information to do the
job - take your time and all will be well.
