Greetings, all.

My K2 #2172 finally made its first DX contacts this past weekend. I had
only made a few local contacts when I was first testing out my K2. Its
first real work out was in the Ontario QSO party about a month ago.

I didn't really want to get involved in the WPX this past weekend as I
expected I would have trouble copying the contact serial numbers since most
of the stations in a big contest like the WPX don't tend to slow their
sending down to that of the station working them. Late Sunday afternoon I
decided to go ahead anyway and see what was out there and whether I could
work a couple of the stations.

I heard BY2A on 10m. I had heard that station on 20 or 15 the day before. I
gave them a call and got a reply immediately. What a surprise that was. I
was using my K2 with 5W into an MP-1 antenna from a bedroom on the second
floor of the house. This is only the second time I have worked China. The
last time was with 100W and a much better vertical. A little while later I
worked an XE1 station in Mexico.

I'm still rather happy about working BY2A considering what I was using and
how lousy the band conditions have been lately. Now to track down their QSL
route so I can confirm the contact.

Cheers!
