You mentioned using an MFJ analizer and marking the settings. This is OK but
each time you set up the settings will change depending on loaction,
placement of radials etc. Listening for max noise will get you close.
Experience will be best guide, I know abt where to set mine for each band
just from using it. I take minimum equipment with me when portable, If you
think you still need a meter I would suggest one of the NOGA SWR kits. 73
