That is ONLY true with the earlier releases of the Ver 2 firmware. The Ver 1
firmware lets you tune as fast as you can spin that knob, and the FT-100
tuning knob was popular long before the Ver 2 firmware was released.

I used the Ver 2 firmware for a while, but am now back on the Ver 1 and it
is so much NICER by comparison.

I use a 'stock' K2 knob and just touch the face of the knob with my finger
tip and twirl. The felt pad is set to only provide sufficient resistance to
prevent 'creep'. The knob spins very easily with just a little finger
pressure and I can QSY at a rate of about 2 kHz/second at the 10 Hz tuning
rate.

That's quite okay.

I understand that the latest Ver 2 firmware being shipped with the KPA100
has a 'fix' that is reportedly even better than the old Ver 1 firmware. If I
want a little faster rate after the "fixed" Ver 2 firmware is available, I
may try the suggestion Vic offered about using a different encoder.
