     Heh, know the feeling!  I always hated having to consult the band
plans on the rare occasions when I did HF ssb.  Then I went from no-code
Tech to cw junky Extra almost overnight and bypassed the problem
altogether :).  Now I'm pestering my friend, James, to upgrade his
Advanced ticket just so we don't have to dig the sheets out for FD :).
     The nice thing about the Extra is that I can leave my K1 tuned to the
bottom of 40m, and when I can't sleep at night, I can hunt around in the
dark for a CQ and return the call w/out worrying about being out of band.  
Unfortunately, that also means I almost never visit the novice bands
anymore. When I was learning cw, I swore that after I upgraded, I would
still scan 7.10-7.15 before diving to the bottom -- and now, I don't :(.
Having cw essentially split across two relatively distant sub-bands isn't
so good -- I'll be most pleased with a more unified cw region.
