FW: [Elecraft] Receivers

I wanted to compare the TenTec Jupiter to my Cubic (before I got the =
K2). I called TenTec and asked who in the Atlanta area could let me hear =
how their DSP IF stacked up against 1970's crystal filters for Ears.
They said buy it, try it, send it back if it doesn't do the trick.
I bought it, and A-B'd it with the Cubic. I called TenTec for an RMA =
number and there was no question or problem. That's just how they do =
business. The shipping has got to be less than a dealer's percentage =
anyhow.
The second tech I got was somewhat surprised sales had suggested the =
Jupiter had better ears than my Astro-103. He seemed to think the =
exercise was a waste of time (it was).=20
btw, the K2 is more dramatically better than the 103 than the 103 was =
than the Jupiter, if you catch my drift.
At least with the K2 I'll never have to overhaul my radio's main =
bearings like the Cubic required every ten years!

Yep, I sure agree with Ed about the ears telling the final tale. The =
problem
is finding rigs to borrow long enough to do comparison testing, or =
locating
the lucky dog who already owns both of the rigs you want to compare. =
When it
comes out, I'd love to put Ten Tec's new Orion next to my 1000D and see =
how
it compares, receiver-wise. But I suspect Ten Tec won't be willing to =
loan
me one to try out. :-)
