[Elecraft] Audio Problem with K2 874

Hello Fellow Elecrafters:

While working on FT KPA100, a problem has surfaced with my base K2. 
Without warning, the audio has become "very raspy" and quite distorted. 
I first was alerted to the problem this morning, while checking into a
40M traffic net.  Yesterday the radio was working as usual.  The on air
report was "raspy and distorted audio".  No problem with receive or any
another function at all.  I have not changed my power supply, an Astron
20M which is set to deliver the right voltage to the K2.  The Astron is 4
to 5 feet away. I have checked the supply voltages, and they have not
changed at all.  Also checked the rig out on several different fully
charged batteries....same problem.  I transmitted into a 50 ohm dummy
load, while listening on my Kenwood...bad audio, raspy...distorted...on
all bands :>(

I have had the K2 for over two years now, without a hint of problems. 
For now I am stumped!! Any and all ideas are appreciated in advance.
