I don't recall seeing anything "official" on the form factor or size of the
100 watt ATU yet.

Keep in mind that to meet FCC rules, Elecraft must sell the KPA100 as an
integral part of the K2, so they haven't had a lot to say about using it
outboard except that as long as it is connected to a K2, the KPA100 can be
put in an external enclosure like the EC2 quite easily by most homebrewers.

They know that a number of homebrewers are considering exactly the
configuration you have in mind: the KPA100 and 100 watt ATU in an EC2
enclosure. I'd be surprised if they didn't consider that in the ATU design.
