But the ears! Those rigs don't hear right.

I bought my K-2 used over a year ago and paid what I believed to be a=20
reasonable price. I still think the $900 range for a newer, fully =
loaded=20
one, is realistic, considering the new kit cost. I also bought a used =
K-1=20
and then sold it a few months later for the same price I paid as I =
simply=20
was not using it with the K-2 sitting next to it. However, just like =
with=20
Heathkits, unless you are paying someone to build a new kit, your =
ability=20
for cost recovery for your time as a craftsman is pretty much a zero sum =

game. Another factor to consider is that, when the K-2s first came out, =

there was no real competition in high tech assembled rigs. Now we have =

the FT-817 and the new Ten Tec rig coming in Aug. These will result in=20
some folks selling and the more on the market, the lower the price. =
E-Bay=20
is an especially bad place to sell niche rigs at high prices.

I plan to keep my options open. I am very interested in the new TT rig, =

but want to see how it does in action before making a commitment. If I =
go=20
for it, my K-2 will be on the blocks - I don't have the need for that =
many=20
rigs, nor do I have the $ to own an infinite number.

Now, if we are to talk about the 100W version, fully loaded, I really =
don't=20
understand how that can compete with new FT-920s, and almost new IC-746s =

(as well as other very recent 100W rigs) selling for near or less than=20
$1K. Just my opinion - some folks enjoy building more than operating. =
I=20
have time for one, but not both, so I choose to spend my time on the =
air.
