The simplest solution, which may also be the best, it to connect the sound
card in your computer to the K2, and use the KIO2 and the CAT command for
PTT. I have done this. I connect the mike input of the K2 to the Line out
of the sound card through an attenuator consisting of a 10K series resistor
and a 1K resistor to ground from the K2 side of the 10 K resistor. I use
the phone jack for audio out of the K2, and use the same attenuator for the
input to the computer sound card mike connection. I also use an isolation
transformer on both the input and output sides to reduce hum caused by
ground loops. You also need a PSK31 program. Hamscope, MixW and Zakanaka
all are good programs that have CAT capabilities. The CAT interface will
also allow for band selection, frequency control and readout, mode
selection and filter selection in the K2 as well as some neat combinations
of these.
You can also buy a commercial interface and use nearly any PSK31 program as
you are not using the CAT interface.
I can give you more details off reflector.
