And who else other than Elecraft would offer such an upgrade?
The Big Three, if you were VERY lucky, might let you ship your
radio to them and, for a (high) nominal fee, upgrade it.  Most
likely, you'd have to purchase the latest iteration of a particular
radio to get the new band...

Elecraft clearly stands behind its installed customer base,
and is, as I have described in my reviews on ehan.net, 
"Heathkit on steroids".
