Right after i got it i sent it to Martin Wilschke DK8ZJ , who performed
in a clearly professional manner all the "elecraft recommended
modifications" in March-April 2002:These are: 
1. Grounded crystal mod 
2. "2nd Stage Crystal Filter mod"
3. Intermodulation mod (Toroid at RFC11)
4. Increased blanking time on NB2 for long duration pulses

The grounded crystal mod (# 1) is, as far as I know, not a an 'Elecraft
recommended mod'. But it is recommended by many K2 owners. Actually I
think that indirectly there is a warning against it in the manual. This
mod is clearly a mod that enhances performance, but also one that
increases the risk of damaging a crystal or two. 

Being involved in several companies myself, I can understand that
Elecraft cannot recommend doing that, but on the other hand I wouldn't
be surprised if there are some K2's at Elecraft with this mod!
