Dan....congrats on getting your KAT2 up & running!  I got my ticket back 
in 1960 at the age of 12....covered by the articles below on eham.net.  I 
built Knightkits & Heathkits.......now, Elecraft with their superb K2 & 
accessories has rekindled my joy of building kits.  The toroids were 
definitely a new experience & a "potential" trouble area.  I found the 
winding to be easy but the tinning & soldering of the connections was more 
challenging but there was lots of help available on the Elecraft website. 
Now I could do it almost in my sleep but it twarn't so easy the first 
time.
