[Elecraft] What Guage Wire for PS?

Being inclined to measure rather than figure, here's how my K2 behaves with
about 1 meter (3+ feet) of 18 gage stranded "zip cord" wire.

Current = 3 amps

13.77 vdc at the power supply.

13.21 vdc at the power supply side of protective diode D10.

12.80 vdc at the rig side of the D10.

12.4 vdc indicated on the Elecraft display.

13.2 vdc indicated on the Elecraft display in receive at 0.28 amps.

Remember:

1- The connector can contribute to the voltage drop - especially at 3 amps.
I have binding posts at the power supply, so the power connector on the K2
is the only additional place for resistive losses in the setup above.

2-  The Elecraft procedure for evaluating your power supply/cable
performance is to note the drop in voltage indicated on the K2 voltage
display with a current load of between 1.3 and 1.6 amps (40-meter
Transmitter Alignment, unnumbered step 10 <G>). They say to expect no more
than 1 volt drop in that case.
