[Elecraft] No CW sidetone?

I brought K2 #2490 with me over the Easter holiday.  I neglected to bring
my manual with me however.

I am not getting any sidetone when in CW-mode however.  I have noticed in
the past that hitting PTT on the microphone would send "dits" and
generally use that with my external tuner vs going 100% duty cycle in
"tune" mode.

The rig is sending "dits" but, I'm not getting any sidetone for some
reason.  "ST L" is 60 and "ST P" is 60.  Am I missing something?  Do I
actually have to have a keyer plugged in to get a
sidetone?  "SPOT" doesn't generate any sidetone either.

HELP!
