Hi Stewart:
I'm sure some of us read Krusty Kurt. When you get the Zepp up and
running please let us all know.

Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Antenna Question

A recent Kurt Sterba monthly piece dealt with the Zepp and the old tales
about it. (KS is the pen name of the World Radio antenna expert).

Kurt reviewed all the cautions, then built a 40M Zepp end fed. He
reported
"NO RF in the shack!" from the feeder.
Yes, you do have to use a transmatch on other bands than the resonant
one.
He so encouraged me, (and pointed out that Moxon said it would not work,
but
that the model assumed did not agree with the experiment), that I am
thinking of trying one to see if it holds true for my location.
Location
and nearby conductors can cause problems for any antenna. Yes, high
impedance end feed might have some issues, but it is a low current point
as
well. Kurt reported the current imbalance of the twin feeders, one to
antenna end, and one to space, was imbalanced only 10 per cent. The
difference is 3000 plus ohms of the antenna end, vs. some higher
impedance
but not infinite, since the other feeder sees the capacitance of
insulators
and the antenna wire.
