I used egg cartons for storing K1 & K2 kit parts. I think I got the idea
from one of the Heath kits I built many years ago.
For the Elecraft kits I numbered each whole in the egg carton (actually I
used flat egg trays available locally from wholesalers, which contain holes
for 32 eggs).
I sequentially marked each part on the kit parts list and then dropped the
appropriate value of resisters, capacitors, diodes or whatever into the
appropriately numbered egg hole.
Of course the static sensitive parts I left in their plastic protective
sheets in the box.
Consequently I was able to positively identify each part before beginning
to construct the kit. It was also very easy to identify each part as I
needed it.
