I dono... I've never found any of the suggestions for using hooks, 
shuttles, etc. when winding toroids particularly useful. I just poke the 
wire thru the thing and keep winding... Seems easy enough even with my 
clumsy fingers.

Oh yes, and if you're worried about the wire and/or the toroid not staying 
in place on the board, apply a little dab of bee's wax. It's easily removed 
and doesn't affect the inductance of the coil.
